Dear Bobby,
On Friday, Bob Howe, Lee Kennedy and Mary Newell had lunch with us and presented the Cancer Center with a check for $174,000 from the October dinner in Boston!
The contribution to our research effort made by your gift last year is truly remarkable. It acted as “seed funding”—from the initial gift in 2006 of $190,000, we are expecting an NCI grant for around $750,000 and an investment by a company in San Francisco of $1 million. We plan to use additional monies granted to our international program to extend our Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) clinical trial to international centers in Brazil and Turkey. We have built a formidable team around the science of our triple negative study. In short, a huge fire has been lit by the funds we received last year. This year we are planning to start a new project that is focused on p53. Though independent, this new endeavor is directly linked to our first GAC project, fitting our strategy of innovation and synergism among our projects.
The principal purpose of my letter is to thank you, Bobby, for your vision, energy, and ability to make these events successful. You have helped to inspire our team, and we are working relentlessly to deliver on our commitment to you and the generous GAC friends and donors.
On behalf of my research team, thank you once again for your support of our research in breast cancer.
Kind regards,
Paul
